Film and video screening Monday 1/29/07
I really liked Nathaniel Dorsky’s film, Variations. I agree that the absents of sound only added to the beauty and intensity of the shots, It kind of felt like a dream. It is my opinion but the other films we watched just lacked the same energy and balance that Dorsky achieved. I felt the other films fell into the description best described by Jonas Mekas in A Call For A New Generation of Film-Makers, where he credits some of the experimental film-makers not for their achievements in pushing the boundaries of film but in their dedication to stick with it and not conform.
